Frankfurt motor show revisited: a reader’s review
Mon, 05 Oct 2009By Richard Webber Motor Shows 05 October 2009 17:26 Richard Webber won a competition held by CAR and Vauxhall to take a CAR Online reader to Frankfurt. Here's his earlier report from the 2009 IAA - and you can now watch his video preview of the new 2010 Astra below I was chuffed to bits to win CAR’s competition to go to the 2009 Frankfurt motor show. Hyundai & Kia responsible for big positive impact on European economy
Wed, 27 Feb 2013A report by economics consultants London Economics reveals the big positive impact Hyundai and Kia are having on the European economy. We already know that both Hyundai and Kia are looking at 2013 more as an exercise in building their ’Brand’, rather than simply selling more and more credible cars. ‘Brand’ is often as much about perceptions as anything else, so if you can address any possible negatives for your brand, as well as producing cracking products, you’re on to a winner.
New Skoda Octavia Scout price and spec – costs from £25,315
Mon, 14 Jul 2014New Skoda Octavia Scout costs from £25,315 The new Skoda Octavia Scout arrived at the Geneva Motor Show in the Spring, bringing an ‘Allroad’ version of the latest Skoda Octavia Combi (Estate) to the market. As with all estate cars with offroad pretensions, the Octavia Scout comes with a more butch set of bumpers and a more purposeful nose, black cladding for the door sills and wheel arches, a new set of alloys, a raised ride height and a few tweaks for the interior so it all looks more than capable of taking on a muddy boot sale car park. The Scout comes with a choice of two 2.0 litre TDI engines at launch, with a lower powered, 148bhp with a six-speed manual and a more powerful, 182bhp version, getting a six-speed DSG gearbox, both of which return official economy of 55.4mpg (although, oddly, the lower-powered gets emissions of 129g/km and the more powerful 134g/km).
