Ford gets the 1965 Mustang ready for the racetrack
Wed, 26 Mar 2014When a pair of 1965 Ford Mustangs served as pace cars for the 1964 Indianapolis 500, the car -- which had made its debut just a few weeks before -- was kicking off an exciting motorsports career that continues to this day. In the April 25, 1964, issue of Competition Press and Autoweek, we shared news (relayed to us by none other than Lee Iacocca) of the Mustang's racing ambitions. 80 mph speed limit: Idaho and Wyoming poised to be next
Thu, 27 Mar 2014Idaho and Wyoming could soon see 80 mph speed limits introduced to a number of highways, joining Texas and Utah as the states with some of the fastest permitted passenger car-driving speeds, KMVT-TV in Idaho is reporting. A bill in Idaho would see some sections of interstates go from 75 mph to 80 mph, and other selected highways go from 65 mph to 70 mph, which are probably speeds that drivers are doing anyway in remote and not-so-remote parts of both states. But the Idaho Transportation Department did not lend its support to the bill even though it is given the authority to implement it.
Video: First glimpse of Porsche's new 911
Tue, 19 Jul 2011These are the first images of the new 2012 Porsche 911, set to make its official debut at the forthcoming Frankfurt motor show. The evolutionary design, built atop a chassis that rides on a longer wheelbase, will feature a steeper rake on the windshield and stand shorter than the outgoing 997, while retaining similar overall dimensions. According to an insider, the new 2012 911 will also feature a heavily revised interior, similar to that of the recent Cayenne and Panamera models.
