Porsche's 918 Spyder plug-in hybrid has been given the green light for production. Porsche today confirmed it would build a limited number of cars based closely on the 918 Spyder - making it the spiritual successor to the Carrera GT, albeit with a green edge. Subaru's Levorg concept set for Tokyo

Subaru has revealed the first teaser images of its Levorg tourer concept ahead of its unveiling at next month's Tokyo Motor Show. The concept, which previews a new 2014 model, is designed to blur the line between a tourer's practicality and a sports car's design and will target the Japanese market. General Motors Co. says a bid for Opel from Magna International faces hurdles while a rival offer from Belgian investor RHJ International would be easier to accept. Writing on GM Europe's Web site, John Smith, GM's chief negotiator for the Opel sale, says Magna's bid "contained elements around intellectual property and our Russian operations that simply could not be implemented."
