 SUZUKI – MARUTI  GYPSY

SUZUKI INTRODUCED THE POPULAR JIMNY / SAMURAI SJ 410 AS THE “MARUTI SUZUKI GYPSY” IN THE INDIAN MARKET IN 1985 WITH THE 970 CC /45 BHP, F10A SUZUKI ENGINE, MATED TO A 4-SPEED GEARBOX.

IT WAS CODED “MG410” WHICH STOOD FOR "MARUTI GYPSY 4-CYLINDER 1.0-LITRE ENGINE".

IN 1993, SUZUKI INTRODUCED THE "WIDETRACK GYPSY" CODENAMED MG410W REPLACING THE MG410.  IN 1995, A CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS FITTED TO COMPLY WITH NEWLY INTRODUCED EMISSION STANDARDS.

IN 1996, SUZUKI MARUTI ADDED THE ALL-ALUMINIUM 8-VALVE G13BA ENGINE DISPLACING 1.3L AND MADE A RESPECTABLE 60 BHP (45 KW; 61 PS). THIS ENGINE WAS CARBURETTED UNLIKE THE US MARKET G13BA ENGINE. IT WAS MATED TO A NEW 5-SPEED GEARBOX. IT WAS CODENAMED MG413W AND CALLED THE “GYPSY KING”.

THE VISUAL DIFFERENCES OF THE GYPSY KING COMPARED TO THE MG410W ARE THE PRONOUNCED BULGE ON THE HOOD AND A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GRILLE DESIGN WITH HORIZONTAL SLATS À LA THE 1.3L SUZUKI JIMNY / SAMURAI JA51.

IN 2000, MARUTI INTRODUCED THE 16-VALVE MPFI G13BB ENGINE AND POWER WAS INCREASED TO 80 BHP (60 KW; 81 PS). THE MPFI GYPSY KING RECEIVED A BRAKE BOOSTER AS WELL.

THE GYPSY WAS EXPORTED TO VARIOUS COUNTRIES, INCLUDING CHILE, SRI LANKA, KENYA, MALTA AND HUNGARY.

IN CIVILIAN USE, THE GYPSY IS A POPULAR CHOICE AS A LOW-COST SUV AND IS A COMMON SIGHT AT RALLY AND AUTOCROSS EVENTS.

Bisimoto turns Honda Odyssey into Veyron fighter

Wed, 06 Nov 2013

Bisimoto Engineering didn't limit itself to Hyundai concepts at the 2013 SEMA Show. It also took a 2014 Honda Odyssey and turned it up to 11. Well, actually, 1,029 -- which is the nearly unbelievable amount of horses under the hood.

VW Golf Bluemotion concept (2008): first pictures

Mon, 08 Sep 2008

By Ben Pulman First Official Pictures 08 September 2008 13:22 This is Volkswagen’s cleanest Mk6 Golf, a Bluemotion concept car that is claimed to achieve 74mpg while puffing out a paltry 99g/km. Those are figures on a par with today’s Polo Bluemotion, but this concept will become production reality in mid-2009.  A 1.6-litre common-rail diesel engine powers the new Golf Bluemotion, producing 104bhp and 184lb ft, but those remarkable figures are helped by revised ratios on the five-speed ‘box, optimised aerodynamics and low rolling resistance tyres. There’s also a particulate filter to keep the exhaust gases clean.

Dream – Cars of the Future Since 1950

Fri, 28 Nov 2008

The city of Turin has been celebrating as World Design Capital 2008 this year with a series of over 200 separate events and exhibitions. One of the highlights has been a series of three themed shows running throughout the year, entitled '20th Century', 'Speed' and 'Dream'; the final exhibition of this trilogy. Housed at the Giovanni Agnelli Espositione - the wonderful Nervi-designed hall on Corso Massimo D'Azeglio that used to host the Salone di Torino in the 1950s - 'Dream' is a fabulous exhibition but, regrettably, one that hasn't been well publicized outside of Turin city.
