Wed, 28 May 2014Google will launch its own fleet of autonomous vehicle prototypes – with no steering wheels and no gas or brake pedals – as the technology giant begins a new phase of its self-driving car project. Now we get the 2015 Mercedes C-Class Estate, which takes the new C-Class in to the load-lugging sector with a capacious take on the fine attributes of the C-Class saloon. A C-Class saloon from the B-pillars forward, the new C-Class Estate grows to 4702mm and gets a 2840mm wheelbase, enough for an extra 45mm of legroom in the back and with 490 litre of room for stuff in the boot with the seats up and 1510 litres with them folded away, and there are more options in between with new seats that split 40/20/40 and can be moved electrically.
Ford and IDSA to host 'Designing Innovation' live design panel discussion tomorrow
Tue, 06 May 2014Freeman Thomas, strategic design director at Ford, will take part in a live design panel discussion on Wednesday 7 May. The panel, hosted by Ford and the Industrial Designers Society of America, will also include CEO of industrial design firm Fuseproject Yves Béhar, and Christopher Williams, business development director at product design and company Lime Lab. Topics will how technology plays a role in design; how designers shape consumer behaviors and responses to innovative products; and how products both stand out from and fit in with the world around them.
