CPP reacts to news of Spyker sale to North Street Capital

Thu, 29 Sep 2011

CPP's Brendan O'Toole & Spyker's Victor Muller - when things seemed simple The rather surprising news breaking overnight that Victor Muller has done a deal with a North American Private Equity firm – North Street Capital – to buy Spyker was something of a surprise; we still expected the deal with CPP, backed by Muller’s banker Vladimir Antonov, to conclude in an orderly fashion. Lexus LFA, from design to dealership in six minutes: Video

Tue, 18 Oct 2011

Seeing the Lexus LFA in person makes it easy to forget that the supercar has been in development for more than 10 years. But you do get a wondrous amount of technology for $375,000, the carbon-fiber body, a retractable rear wing and a compact V10 so fast that analog gauges couldn’t keep up with it. Add to that 553 hp, 354 lb-ft of torque and a 202-mph top speed, and we just had to put the LFA to the test at our favorite local racetrack.

Vettel managed to start from pole and end up on the top step after the chequered flag. Team mate Mark Webber didn’t fare so well. From a poor start – where he seemed to be going backwards when everyone else was going forwards – he had a shunt and a half when he drove in to the back of Heikki Kovalainen’s Lotus at close on 200mph, flipped his car and ran off in to the tyre wall.
