The British Steam Car Challenge team has set a new land speed record for a steam car at 148.308mph All of which tends to suggest – admirable though the achievement is – that steam technology has not moved on much in 100 years. An improvement of around 1mph a decade. Still, a challenge is a challenge, and the team on the British Steam Car Challenge rose to the occasion.

We discovered last year that Victor Muller has picked up the reins at Spyker once more, dragged in some investment from China and was working on the return of the Spyker D8 Peking-Paris super SUV (that started life as the D12). Honda recalls the CR-V, CR-Z for fixes

Honda is recalling CR-V crossovers to fix a window switch that could start a fire, and the CR-Z hybrid with manual transmission to make a change to the powertrain software. The new Honda recall is part of a global recall of nearly 960,000 vehicles, including the Honda Fit, for problems with the window switch and the hybrid powertrain. The recall for the Honda CR-V covers 80,111 crossovers from the 2006 model year.
