Wed, 07 Dec 2011

A Jaguar-based Chery for China on the way Reports from China say that Jaguar is to develop a new luxury sub-brand with putative Chinese partners Chery Automobile to get NDRC approval for a Joint Venture. We’ve reported on speculation about Jaguar Land Rover’s efforts to form a joint venture in China to gain access to the most important car market in the world quite a bit this year. And now it looks as though that joint venture is getting closer, with reports that Jaguar and Chery Automobile are to develop a new luxury brand for China based on Jaguar’s cars.

Pink Rolls Royce FAB 1 actually has a pink vinyl ‘Wrap’

Fri, 19 Apr 2013

But it seems Rolls Royce must have thought much the same, as it turns out that the impressive paint job isn’t actually that at all, but a pink vinyl wrap provided – free of charge – by car vinyl wrap experts Raccoon. Raccoon chose a gloss laminated film to wrap the Ghost to make sure it looked as indistinguishable as possible from a bespoke paint job, and it worked. No one has noticed the pinks Rolls Royce doesn’t have a custom paint job and that’s down to Raccoon taking extreme care to carefully wrap not just the outside panels, but also stuff like door sills and any areas that might otherwise give the game away.

2013 VW Golf TDI BlueMotion Mk 7 costs from £20,335

Thu, 02 May 2013

Starting at £20,335 for the 3-door BlueMotion and rising to £20,990 for the 5-door, the new Golf also emits just 85g/km CO2 (which would have been enough for free London Congestion charging, but not any more) which is 15 per cent better than the previous Mk 6 TDI BlueMotion managed. VW has managed to tweak the Golf BlueMotion’s economy figures still further by reducing weight, fitting super low rolling resistance tyres (that run with higher pressure), longer gear ratios, stop-start and aerodynamic tweaks. Thos aerodynamic tweaks includes modifications to the front of the Golf to reduce drag by nearly 10 per cent, adding a roof spoiler, air guide elements on the back window, a masked front grill, smoother underfloor and a reduction of ride height by 15mm.
