BMW ActiveHybrid X6 – blink and you’ll have missed it

BMW ActiveHybrid X6 ends production On the face of it, adding hybrid gubbins to an expensive SUV should be a winner. Extra power and better economy – with the extra cost easily lost in an already expensive SUV – makes some sense. Or at least BMW thought so when the BMW AciveHybrid X6 was launched in 2009.

BMW X1 sDrive20d EfficientDynamics - the 'Blue' X1 arrives The BMW X1 is, according to BMW, “…still the only premium vehicle in its segment” and they’re keen to make sure that their baby SUV keeps its nose ahead of the pack. Which explains the plans to launch an X1 badged-up with the EfficientDynamics moniker in the Autumn – the BMW X1 sDrive20d EfficientDynamics Edition. BMW anoraks know that BMW’s EfficientDynamics gubbins – stuff like stop-start and low rolling resistance tyres – have sneaked in across the BMW range over the last few years, improving economy and lowering emissions in the process.

Dream – Cars of the Future Since 1950

The city of Turin has been celebrating as World Design Capital 2008 this year with a series of over 200 separate events and exhibitions. One of the highlights has been a series of three themed shows running throughout the year, entitled '20th Century', 'Speed' and 'Dream'; the final exhibition of this trilogy. Housed at the Giovanni Agnelli Espositione - the wonderful Nervi-designed hall on Corso Massimo D'Azeglio that used to host the Salone di Torino in the 1950s - 'Dream' is a fabulous exhibition but, regrettably, one that hasn't been well publicized outside of Turin city.
