BMW i3 tops Sunday Times best Electric Cars list
Mon, 21 Oct 2013The BMW i3 EV tops Sunday Times best Electric Cars list Just as they did with the new Range Rover last year, the Sunday Times has declared the new BMW i3 EV the pick of the bunch of electric and hybrid cars on sale in the UK, despite the i3 not yet arriving on UK roads. But there seems a good chance that the Sunday Times have got it right this time too, just as they did with the new Range Rover. The Sunday Times praised BMW for biding its time with the launch of their first electric and range-extender car (the next, the BMW i8 supercar, will arrive in 2014) and said the i3′s big appeal lies not in its cutting edge electric motor or battery technology – because there isn’t any – but in its appeal as a car even without its EV powertrain.
Porsche 928 to be reborn as Porsche Panamera Coupe
Mon, 03 Dec 2012Porsche boss Matthias Mueller has revealed plans for new variants on the Porsche Panamera – including a Panamera Coupe – and more new models. Porsche boss, Matthias Mueller, has confirmed that Porsche are planning to extend the Panamera offerings with a coupe and probably a production version of the very convincing Panamera Sport Turismo Concept we saw at Geneva in the spring, although nothing has been signed off yet. The most likely time for the Panamera Coupe and Shooting Brake to arrive is after Porsche refresh the Panamera next year, so we should expect a ‘new 928′ to arrive some time in 2014.
Gordon Murray's electric city car gets green light
Thu, 05 Nov 2009The UK Government tonight announced a major investment in Gordon Murray's radical new city car project. A £9 million grant will fund development of the T27, an electric city car successor to the original T25 being designed in the UK by the maverick engineer behind the McLaren F1 and numerous racing cars. The money will be spent designing and producing four prototypes over a 16-month period, with the eventual aim of putting an electric car with sustainable manufacturing processes into full production here in the UK. The T27 will be the follow-up to the petrol-powered T25, a small city car designed by jointly by Gordon Murray Design and Zytek Automotive technology.
