The Geely GE Facelift - no longer a RR Clone It’s amazing how much things have moved on in the last twelve months. A year ago we reported that China’s Geely had become the latest Chinese car maker to produce a complete rip-off clone of a Western car, in this case a clone of the Rolls Royce Phantom. The Geely ‘Phantom’ even sported a  single seat  ’Throne’ in the back so the owner could feel really important in his Chinese version of  a Western plutocrat’s carriage.

2013 Aston Martin DB9 – Virage Vanquished

Aston Martin has given the DB9 a makeover – a facelift and a bit more – for 2013 as the tweaked DB9 signals the end of the Virage. But all is not lost with the Virage, as the 2013 DB9 gets a Virage makeover – inside and out as well as more power from its V12 and the addition of Aston Martin’s adaptive damping. The 5.9 litre V12 engine under the new DB9′s bonnet now offers 510bhp and 442lb/ft of torque – more than the Virage managed to muster – and is much the same as the revised AM11 V12 we see in the new Vanquish but with a bit less power.

Land Rover design director Gerry McGovern has made it clear that the new Land Rover Defender – due in 2015 – will be a car that will be a perfect replacement for the iconic Defender. It’s not often you get a proper statement of intent on a planned new car, but Land Rover’s design director Gerry McGovern has made it absolutely clear what he thinks of the new Land Rover Defender he’s busy creating. Speaking to a small group of Australian journalists, Gerry communicated his feelings about the new Defender in the best way possible, simply by not mincing his words: “This car will be the bollocks, I assure you.
