Style, performance, luxury and ease of maintenance.

For sale is an extremely clean 1994 Jaguar XJ12 with a newly rebuilt small block Chevy of 383 cubic inch displacement and newly rebuilt 700R4 automatic transmission.

Prior to my purchase, the car was driven from Montana to Michigan where the Jaguar V12 engine developed a severe misfire.  Due to the engine problem, the owner left it here for sale while he returned home.  I bought the car because I wanted the V12 engine for another project I have going.  As I took the engine and transmission out of the car, I was very impressed at the condition of the body, interior and suspension.  It looks like it is only a few years old, definitely not 21 years old.  There is NO rust on this car.  The bottom is in excellent condition.  I felt it would be wrong to scrap the thing, so I decided to build a small block Chevy and 700R4 transmission for it.  Several years later, I now need the money for the other project.  The engine I built started with a four bolt main production Chevy block, nearly everything else is brand new; Dart aluminum heads, Scat 3.75 inch stroke crankshaft, Probe forged pistons ,new rods, new Howard cam, new Delphi lifters and a rebuilt 700R4.  I have a binder full of pictures of the build process and another binder full of receipts and documentation for what was spent on this project. The car was just driven to the Car Craft Summer Nationals in Milwaukee.  One small coolant leak was repaired by tightening a water pump bolt and a bottle of Bars Leak, other than that the cruise was set at 79mph on the expressway (2600 rpm) and the air conditioning was great.  The ride and handling need to be experienced.  The AC blows cold and the cruise control works well.  All seat power functions work as well as power locks, windows and sunroof.  It is not a race car, it idles smoothly and drives great, even the torque converter clutch operates with an adjustable vacuum switch.  The carburetor is a rebuilt Quadrajet and a new HEI handles the spark.  It will spin tires through first gear.  This is a street machine you can further modify to meet your desire without going broke since it uses a Chevy engine and transmission.  Only problems I am still chasing are some small oil leaks and final calibration of the TCC vacuum switch.  If you are concerned about the prices of Jaguar parts, check the cost of new and used replacement parts on ebay.  Many parts from an XJ6 fit this car and they can be had for reasonable prices there.  I fixed many issues other than the powertrain during the rebuild.  I finished the car with the odo at 94757, right now the odo reads 98686.  This car will be at local car shows the rest of the summer.  It is located on the west side of Lansing, Michigan 2 miles from the I96/69 and M43 interchange.  Thanks for the interest and please ask for any further information.

Jaguar XFR-S Los Angeles Debut

Tue, 20 Nov 2012

A more powerful XFR – the Jaguar XFR-S – will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show this month with a more aggressive body kit and 542bhp. We’ve been expecting the arrival of the Jaguar XFR-S – a more powerful XFR – to take on the might of the latest M5 and E63 for some time, and Jaguar has revealed the XFR-S will get its debut at this month’s Lops Angeles Auto Show. All Jaguar has felt fit to do at this stage is tease the XFR-S with a single photos (above) and no detail, but it seems probable the XFR will get the same sort of makeover to to create the XFR-S as the XKR got to give us the XKR-S.

Mercedes A45 AMG takes aim at the Audi RS3

Wed, 13 Jun 2012

The performance version of the new Mercedes A Class – which looks like it’s going to be the Mercedes A45 AMG – is gunning for the Audi RS3. We know that car makers have other car makers’ models in their firing line when they plan a new model. But it’s not all that common for them to publicly admit it.
