We purchased the 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible second hand in '98. It was white with a white top and a maroon interior. The convertible top was automatic and the car came with this boot that matched the interior. It was placed over the top in the down position to "dress up" the car a bit.

The car ultimately met its demise due to engine failure many miles and many years later. But the convertible boot, which was only used a few times, has been hanging in the garage. We rediscovered it while downsizing and figured that perhaps someone might need one in this color.

But what about a car that finds its own parking spot just after you step out? Volvo is about to show a car that can do just that, and it manages this feat without an array of sensors on the roof that make the car look like a military aircraft.

Hot Wheels and Icon in sandbox battle

Wed, 06 Jun 2012

As first reported by Jeff Glucker of Hooniverse, the toymaker Mattel has been accused of infringing on a trademark held by the low-volume vehicle builder Icon 4X4. Icon claims that a Hot Wheels toy being distributed worldwide is based on its Icon FJ40—which itself is based on the Toyota FJ40—and that Hot Wheels' use of Icon's design, promotional materials and the name “FJ40” violates trademarks held by Icon. In its response to Tuesday's Hooniverse post, Hot Wheels claimed that the toy is not based on the Icon FJ40, and that it has the right to use the term “FJ40” despite Icon's trademark.
