Raikkonen dropped the bombshell at Silverstone ahead of the British Grand Prix this weekend, and just eight races into his second coming at Ferrari which has so far been a bitter disappointment. Yesterday we had the first leaked picture of the BMW i8 Spyder, the next stage on BMW’s eco supercar journey, and the news the open top i8 was heading for the Beijing Motor Show. So BMW has decided to jump in with the official reveal of the i8 Spyder which gives us more than a couple of photos of the i8 to look through, although not much more in the way of detail than we surmised yesterday.
BMW hires former General Motors EV expert Weber, sources say
Mon, 11 Apr 2011BMW AG has hired former Opel product chief Frank Weber, sources at both companies told Automotive News Europe. It's a move that gives the world's leading luxury carmaker a huge boost in electric vehicle expertise as Weber was the lead engineer for the Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid. BMW plans to launch its i3 full-electric car and its i8 plug-in hybrid in 2013.
