Warranty/Installation:
This compressor is warranted to be free of defects from workmanship for a period of one (1) year.

You are replacing your original compressor for a reason. You must be prepared to replace additional components of the A/C system. If your A/C system suffered a catastrophic failure, i.e., the unit locked up, metal debris was strewn throughout the system. Even if it did not, your Technician will need to make sure the system is properly cleaned, whether through the use of a flush gun, closed loop flush, or replacement of damaged components. Receiver driers or accumulators, and expansion devices should be replaced any time an A/C system is opened. Be prepared to replace a condenser, and relieved if you do not have to.
For warranty to be effective, the receiver drier/accumulator and expansion valve/orifice tube must be replaced, and the system must be properly cleaned. In the event of a warranty claim, receipts and repair orders must be returned to approve warranty claim.
This compressor should be considered shipped DRY. It contains a small amount of oil to keep the internal components lubricated (3 oz.). This oil is compatible with all approved AC lubricants. The Technician installing this compressor should refer to the vehicle manufacturer’s guide for oil and refrigerant specifications. Failure to follow proper installation instructions will reduce compressor life and void the warranty. After the compressor is installed, the clutch hub should be rotated 10-20 revolutions to ensure that oil is evenly distributed, and to clear excess oil from the cylinders. When an A/C system is opened to the atmosphere, air and moisture enter into the system. For this reason, a vacuum must be pulled on the system after installation. Vacuum should last for at least 30 minutes, and 45-60 minutes is better. The vacuum will not only remove air from the system )which causes noise), but will also boil off all moisture. Moisture in an A/C system will cause abnormal and inefficient operation. We are certain that if these guidelines are followed, you will not have trouble with your compressor or A/C system.

Camouflaged Cadillac ELR spotted on the road

Mon, 03 Sep 2012

Autoweek reader Josh Lindquist recently snapped these photos of what may be a camouflaged Cadillac ELR cruising around metropolitan Detroit. While the photos don't show the car from every angle, its lines are strikingly similar to those on the ELR featured on Cadillac's official Web site. The ELR first appeared as the Cadillac Converj concept in 2009.

Scuola Politecnica di Design Milan 2007

Fri, 13 Jul 2007

Milan, Italy is well known for being a style center, so it's fairly apt that there is a design school based in one of the most fashionable and creative areas of the city. Scuola Politecnica di Design has been molding new designers for over 50 years and has a program specifically devised for students seeking to master the art of transportation design. On June 29th the school held its annual degree show, and Car Design News went to Milan to see what the students in the Masters Course had dreamt up. This year marked the second time that Audi sponsored the course, giving students a brief that consisted of creating "a sporty, small lifestyle car for the 'Generation Mobile'": a small car for young customers living in urban areas that would also be accustomed to using iPods.
