Bid to cut car insurance premiums
Thu, 12 Jun 2014THE COMPETITION WATCHDOG is proposing to impose a cap on replacement vehicle costs following motor accidents as part of a clampdown to help cut premiums for all drivers in the £11 billion private motor insurance market. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said the cap on charges passed to the insurer of the driver who is at-fault in an accident for the cost of providing a replacement vehicle to the non-fault driver, would "more closely reflect the costs incurred and remove significant inefficiencies". The watchdog has previously found that the "complex chain" of claim costs following an accident collectively inflates premiums by as much as £200 million a year.
2013 Hyundai ix35 Facelift spied
Mon, 09 Jul 2012An undisguised photo of what appears to be a facelift for the 2013 Hyundai ix35 has appeared on a Korean site. It’s not yet three years since the Hyundai ix35 was revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009 (although it had been seen in Korea earlier), but it looks like the compact SUV from Hyundai is getting a facelift for 2013. The photo above shows an undisguised ix35 / Tucson snapped in Korea and shows a new, more confident nose, big statement grill and fog lights that looks like the might have been borrowed from the new i30.
2012 BMW M5 revealed in production trim
Wed, 15 Jun 2011The wraps have been torn off the fire-breathing 2012 BMW M5. And, as expected, the Bavarian luxury maker is going in a different direction under the hood. BMW is eschewing a naturally aspirated powerplant in the new M5, whose high-revving roots date to the 1980s, in favor of a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 pushing out about 552 hp.
