Ford Marks 30 Years Of Diesel Power
Fri, 23 May 2014THE MIGHTY Blue Oval is marking 30 years of diesel power this year. 1984 saw the introduction of Ford’s derv-powered Fiesta and, to illustrate the power of the black pump, the firm now sells almost 119,000 of them. According to the carmaker, today diesel power represents 38.5 per cent of all Ford car sales, making the introduction of its first mainstream diesel car a significant landmark.
McLaren P13 set to arrive in 2014
Sun, 24 Mar 2013The next new car from McLaren – codenamed P13 and set to take on the Porsche 911 and Audi R8 – now looks set to arrive in 2014. McLaren’s plans for a new range of road cars have been in play for a number of years, and we initially expected the 12C to arrive first to take on the Ferrari 458, which it did, followed by a cheaper McLaren set to take on cars like the Porsche 911 and Audi R8. We got the McLaren MP4-12C (which McLaren now like us to call the 12C) followed by the 12C Spider – just as we first thought - but it seems McLaren was under pressure from its new dealer network to get the replacement for the legendary F1 out next, so McLaren switched tack and delivered the new McLaren P1.
Brabus builds Mercedes-Benz B63S - 700 Widestar for Dubai Police
Wed, 06 Nov 2013It's not about catching the bad guy, it's about driving something so cool that the bad guy pulls over just to stare in awe at your police cruiser. Until now that meant Mercedes-Benz G55 AMGs in Eastern European capitals orthat one Lamborghini Gallardo from Italy that's been making the rounds on the Internet so long that even your grandmother knows what jurisdiction in Italy it belongs to and which autostrades it patrols. Well, we suspect that the bar for most spectacular police vehicle has been raised once again with the delivery of the 700-hp Brabus B63S - 700 Widestar G-class to the Dubai police and its appearance at the Dubai Motor Show.
