So when one of the Cars UK team was sat waiting patiently in the Waitrose car park for his beloved to finish replenishing stocks, he wasn’t particularly surprised to find a nice new Range Rover Vogue slowly pass-by looking for a parking space. It looked a completely standard Vogue – the entry-level Range Rover – with no personalisation of any sort.

McQueen cajoled his wife Nellie into writing a check for $5,000 -- today around $40,000 -- and became the third owner of XKSS chassis No. 713, a car that had originally been imported a year earlier by Jaguar North America.

And that second favourite label seemed to be its undoing when FIVE decided last year to ditch the show after it failed to make any impact on the ratings against everyone’s favourite car show on TV – Top Gear. But FIVE (channel five if we ditch the trendy CAPITALS) have had a change of heart, done a syndication deal or two for Fifth Gear and are putting together a new series (they’ve actually commissioned two of them) which should hit TV screens at the end of next month.
