Volvo makes breakthrough in battery tech
Thu, 17 Oct 2013Volvo has developed a new way of ‘storing’ energy for its future electric vehicles. The Swedish firm is exploring the concept of lightweight structural energy storage components made from carbonfibre, containing “nano structured batteries and super capacitors.” This technology is said to offer a lighter, more compact solution to the problem of energy storage, potentially removing the need for the heavy, bulky batteries used in current electric vehicles. Hyundai Scrappage – amazing trade-ins

Which is no real surprise. The £2,000 Scrappage allowance is a big chunk of such a cheap car, and is probably achievable for a high number of owners of ‘Clunkers’.

If you're thinking it looks like the design team's placed a downsized Aston Martin grille onto a Toyota iQ, you wouldn't be far off. The luxury commuter concept, which Aston Martin claims will 'offer customers a distinctive, intelligent and exclusive solution for urban travel in style and luxury' is actually based on the diminutive urban runabout and was created in collaboration with the Japanese automaker.
