Brand new K&L Air Cut-Off Valve Kits for 2 carburetors.  To prevent “afterburn” generated by a lean fuel mixture when closing the throttle, the air cut-off valve temporarily closes the slow-jet air passage, creating an instantly richer mixture. Included in these high quality kits are all parts necessary for a complete rebuild (diaphragm, spring and o-ring). Made in Japan. GM disbands unit that creates high-performance vehicles

General Motors, focusing on mainstream products in a battle to survive, has scrapped a unit that produced high-performance vehicles. GM on Wednesday disbanded High Performance Vehicle Operations, which is based at the company's suburban Detroit technical center, and redeployed its engineers, spokesman Vince Muniga said. "All high-performance projects are on indefinite hold," Muniga said.

Ford F-150 gets upgrades for 2012

A 36-gallon fuel tank leads the changes on the 2012 Ford F-150 pickup, which makes for a range of 756 bladder-busting miles without filling up. The FX trim gets a new appearance package, and the availability of a locking rear axle is expanded. The engine lineup is unchanged from that of the 2011 model, with six-speed automatic transmissions as standard equipment.

Interns here at AutoWeek are fortunate enough to be in and out of all sorts of cars, from the little Fiat 500 to the phenomenal Lexus LFA. But rarely do we get our own event like the Intern Ride and Drive hosted by General Motors in downtown Detroit on Friday. The event, set up and run by GM's own interns, involved summer help from local broadcast-media outlets, newspapers and many Detroit-area automotive publications.
