UP FOR AUCTION IS A VERY RARE SET OF 2 VINTAGE HEAVY DUTY  IRON MOUNTED SIDE VIEW MIRRORS FOR SOME TYPE OF HEAVY EQUIPMENT, SEMI, BIG RIG TRUCK POSSIBLY EVEN A TRAIN , BUS OR FIRE TRUCK THEY ARE FIRE ENGINE RED IN COLOR . THE RED MOUNT IS 24 1/4" TALL AND TAPERS IN WIDTH FROM 3" AT THE TOP TO 8 INCHES AT THE BOTTOM WHERE THE MOUNTING BOLTS ARE THE IRON IS 2" WIDE AND A LITTLE OVER  A 1/4 INCH THICK. THE BLACK MIRROR BRACKETS ARE 18" TALL AND 7 3/4 INCHES WIDE. THE MIRRORS ARE 16" TALL AND AND 6 INCHES WIDE, THE OVERALL HEIGHT  AT HIGHEST POINT IS 27 3/4 INCHES TALL AND 19" AT THE WIDEST POINT. THERE IS SOME RUST BUT VERY LITTLE MIRRORS ARE A LITTLE FOGGY (SEE PHOTOS).TOTAL COMBINE WEIGHT FOR IS ABOUT 35 LBS. This week we have Volvo’s very promising new V40 in for review and test in the guise of the V40 D3 SE Nav manual. For perhaps the first time, Volvo are offering a serious alternative to cars like the BMW 1 Series (and the new Mercedes A Class) with the V40. Certainly on all the things that grab the headlines – looks, performance and equipment – the V40 seems to be a very credible effort from Volvo.

The filing--anticipated for weeks--came just 13 months after GM was restructured in bankruptcy with $50 billion in direct aid from the U.S. government.

Toyota talks powertrain plans

After trailing many of its competitors in the recent engine- and transmission-technology wars, Toyota Motor Corp. will launch a swath of powertrains in the next several years, a top powertrain r&d executive said. Koei Saga, senior managing officer in charge of drivetrain r&d, said that Toyota is investing heavily in turbocharged engines, larger displacement Atkinson cycle engines, continuously variable and fixed-gear automatic transmissions, and new hybrid and fuel cell technologies.
