Porsche Cayenne S Diesel: The V8 diesel Cayenne arrives
Wed, 12 Sep 2012Porsche has revealed the 2013 Cayenne S Diesel with a 4.2 litre V8 diesel offering 378bhp, 626lb/ft of torque and 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds. Back in April we reported that the Porsche Cayenne S Diesel was on its way with a V8 diesel engine to take on the BMW M50d and the upcoming offerings from Land Rover with a 2014 4.4 litre Range Rover Sport seeming a likely possibility. Now Porsche has caught up and revealed the Cayenne S diesel, which gets the 4.2 litre diesel V8 with a healthy 378bhp and a very useful 626lb/ft of torque, enough to scoot the Cayenne S Diesel to 62mph in 5.7 seconds – a bit slower than the M50d, but all that torque should make it feel at least as lively.
2014 Range Rover Sport video tease: Take 2
Mon, 18 Mar 2013Five days on from the last video tease and a week from the New York Live reveal, the 2014 Range Rover Sport gets teased again on video. We did half expect another tease for the 2014 Range Rover Sport before now, especially after the first video tease for Land Rover’s latest Sport Rangie came just two days after LR started the tease. But in the meantime – just after the first video tease for the new RRS – we had proper leaked photos of the new Range Rover Sport taken at a window tinters in New York as the brand new Range Rover Sport got prepared for its New York outing.
Bonneville broadcast will add pepper to the salt
Wed, 31 Jul 2013If you've ever been to Bonneville during Speed Week, you know what a thrilling corner of the motorsports world the place occupies: standing out on the endless, blazing-white expanse of salt, hearing the cars before you see them, seeing first the roostertail of salt rocketed into the air, then the tallest part of the rear fin, then the car itself, blasting over the curvature of the Earth, followed by engine cutoff, popping chutes, deceleration and the giddy celebration of driver and crew as yet another record falls. But most people -- those with jobs, kids, responsibilities (where are your priorities, people???) -- will never get a chance to go. So this year, the Southern California Timing Association has made a deal to broadcast audio of the entire Speed Week live, as it happens, direct from the salt, on the fabulous internet.
