Driving the Chevy Volt isn't special, and that's good

We've had our first taste of the drive system under development for General Motors' pioneering Chevrolet Volt, piloting a test mule based on the Chevrolet Cruze at the company's Warren (Mich.) Technical Center, and it left us hungering for more. Yes, it's an electric car, but mostly, it's a car--one you could imagine driving every day without feeling as if you were engaged in a lab experiment. Toyota resumes sales of Lexus GX 460

Toyota has resumed sales of the 2010 Lexus GX 460 SUV, two weeks after it announced a recall of the 9,400 models already sold. The Japanese automaker stopped sales of the vehicle after Consumer Reports magazine declared the SUV a safety risk, warning readers that it was prone to oversteer in turns. Lexus tested the car in response to the warning and made changes to the vehicle's electronic stability-control software.

Saab says three new models are in the works

Saab says a new financial deal with Chinese companies Pang Da and Zhejiang Youngman Lotus gives it the cash to plan three new models. Saab's plan calls for: -- The 9-1, an entry-level car that has been known as the 9-2 until now. -- The 9-6 and the 9-7, which Saab says will be prestige vehicles.
