Chevrolet Spark EV tops EPA's fuel-economy rankings for 2014

The 2014 Chevrolet Spark EV has been named the most fuel-efficient vehicle by the EPA and the Department of Energy in a new ranking for 2014. The Spark EV returns a combined 119 mpg equivalent, achieving 128 mpg in the city and 109 mpg on the highway. Chevrolet's pure-electric hatch displaced last year's chart topper, the Scion 2013 iQ EV, with its 121 mpg equivalent rating, but the Scion is not offered for the 2014 model year, so it didn't make the list for the U.S.

We then had the Cupra R launch proper at Frankfurt in September, but it’s taken a further six months for SEAT to open up the order book in the UK (officially from 1st April) and no doubt a month or three more until the first UK customer gets to go and play. Mercedes unveils powerful new AMG 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8

By John Mahoney Motor Industry 25 July 2014 17:09 Mercedes AMG has released details of an all-new 503bhp 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 that will help fill the void when the production of its normally aspirated 6.2-litre V8 ends. Lightweight, compact and more efficient than the big 6.2-litre it replaces, the new smaller capacity turbocharged V8 produces 479lb ft from just 1750rpm. The first car to receive the new engine will be the Porsche 911-rivalling Mercedes AMG GT, but other smaller cars like the C63 AMG are also set to benefit from its compact design.
