Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe steps out before New York auto show debut
Thu, 20 Mar 2014Following the unveiling of the striking S550 Coupe at the recent Geneva motor show, Mercedes-Benz has now taken the wraps off the even more powerful S-class two-door: The 2015 S63 AMG Coupe. It's set to make a public debut at the upcoming New York auto show. The plush, leather-lined four-seater, which will lock horns with the Bentley Continental GT when North American sales get underway later this year, runs a carryover twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine from its predecessor, the CL63 AMG.

It wants to be seen as a manufacturer of ‘environment-friendly passenger cars & crossovers’ instead of an SUV focused manufacturer. It sees cars like the i-MiEV, Colt, Lancer, Grandis and Outlander as the future, although it intends remaining in the ‘Authentic off-roader’ segment with cars like the Shogun.
Land Rover confirms end of Defender production

Originally conceived as an agricultural machine, the first Land Rover prototype used scavenged Willys Jeep bits left over from World War II. American kids of a certain age may have been captivated by the Land Rover's mystique while watching Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom back in the '70s.
