Although officially the anniversary was last week, it’ll be this Saturday and Sunday (3-4 November) that the festivities take place. Stirling Moss will be going down to Surrey to collect the keys to his new Smart and sign autographs, they’ll be a free prize draw to win passenger rides in the SLR or with the Silver Arrows display team, and Mercedes’ AMG and off-road courses will be available for a birthday price of £15.
MG TF – finally built at Longbridge. Plus mystery MG
Mon, 02 Jun 2008By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 02 June 2008 12:18 After a series of twists, turns, delays and wildly ambitious claims more akin to a Miss Marple whodunnit, MG has finally built its first TFs at the Longbridge plant in the West Midlands. We've seen the first TF LE500 models at Longbridge and we hear they will be in dealers soon, priced at around £16,000. What's changed since the last 2005 cars? These early pre-prototypes look virtually unchanged, but now come with a body-coloured hard-top, leather seats, air-con and improved interior plastics as standard. The cars pictured here have the new standard-fit glass rear screen, wind deflector, 16in alloys in shadow chrome or satin-black finish and the new piano black interior trim and revised dials.
Chris Evans buys Ferrari 250 GT California for £5m
Mon, 19 May 2008By Tim Pollard Motor Shows 19 May 2008 10:36 The ginger motormouth is a well known fan of scarlet sports cars, but even we were surprised when UK broadcaster Chris Evans splashed out £5 million on an immaculate 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder. Evans blew €7,040,000 on the black sports car, the thirteenth of just 56 built. It was the inspiration for Ferrari's latest 2+2 GT, the new California unveiled in May 2008.The car was sold at this weekend's second annual Ferrari Leggenda e Passione event at Maranello, the specialist auction of all things Ferrari and Maserati.
