Mercedes F1 Schumacher sets the pace in Melbourne
Fri, 16 Mar 2012Mercedes F1 Michael Schumacher - fastest in practice in Australia Michael Schumacher showed some of the promise for Mercedes 2012 F1 in Melbourne, setting the quickest time in damp Friday practice. With the first F1 Grand Prix of the 2012-2013 season taking place this Sunday at Melbourne’s Albert Park, we thought we’d look in at Friday’s practice to see if there are any clues to this year’s form. Volkswagen Golf R 400 Concept with 395bhp heading for Beijing
Thu, 17 Apr 2014The VW Golf R 400 can hit 62mph in 3.9 seconds Volkswagen usually reserve their extreme concepts for the Worthersee Show, but they’re heading to next week’s Beijing Motor Show with a very extreme Golf R. The VW Golf R 400 Concept takes the regular Golf R – perhaps the most ‘grown-up’ hot hatch you can buy – and not only adds more power but extreme styling too. That means the 2.0 litre turbo 4-cylinder engine in the Golf R being crankes up to deliver 395bhp (400PS) which cuts the 0-62mph time by a full second over the production Golf R with the DSG ‘box to a supercar-bashing 3.9 seconds.
Worrying insurance fraud trends revealed
Fri, 16 May 2014AS MANY as two million motorists could be jeopardising their insurance by listing themselves as the main driver on a car that someone else covers more mileage in. The process, known as ‘fronting’, secures a cheaper insurance quote for the real main driver, who in many cases is young or has less no-claims discount, but it is illegal and could completely invalidate the policy and leave the drivers vulnerable to prosecution. Research from Privilege car insurance has revealed not only that the two million drivers could be risking more than they imagine, but also that around one million motorists are named as the main driver on insurance policies for cars they have never even driven at all.
