Official: Honda F1 becomes Brawn GP
Fri, 06 Mar 2009Honda F1 morphs in to Brawn GP Well, it’s good to see they survived! After reporting last week that the Honda F1 team was going to be the subject of a management buyout, thus securing the team and its employees, an official announcement has now been made and we can confirm that Ross Brawn has taken control of the Honda F1 Team, which will henceforth be known as Brawn GP. It would have been a mighty shame if Ross Brawn had been lost to F1 again.
Last McLaren P1 was sold on Sunday, says Ron Dennis
Thu, 14 Nov 2013The McLaren P1 Supercar (pictured) is now sold out The LaFerrari may have sold out before it was even revealed, but with a long history of hypercars from Ferrari, that’s no surprise. But the McLaren P1, although a direct descendant of the fable McLaren F1, didn’t have the benefit of a long history of hard-core wealthy clients to call on for its sales, so McLaren has had to wait a while to complete sales on their entire run of 375 cars. But now they’ve done it.
BMW i3 Range Extender engine adds 10% to the price
Fri, 11 Oct 2013BMW i3 Range Extender engine adds 10% to the price The BMW i3 – BMW’s first foray in to a world of electric cars – was officially revealed in July – and due on sale in 2014 – and seems, by electric car standards, to be almost affordable. At a starting price of £30,680 – £25,680 after the taxpayer bribe for EV buyers – it’s no more expensive than other electric cars and does come with some clever technology – and the BMW badge – that will help it move out of showrooms. But as we reported as far back as 2011, the BMW i3 is to get a range-extender option – a small petrol engine that kicks in to recharge the batteries when they get low – which will make the i3 a much more practical proposition.
