The second of Suzuki's concept trio is the Q, whch is designed for the inner-city commuter. The highly stylized all-electric quadracycle is powered by an electric motor and battery pack, the Q has a range of 50km and a top speed of just 37mph. The Q is aimed at those with a short commute, described as being "ideal for everyday journeys within a radius of about six miles" and, as such, is pitched as a comfortable commuting tool.

Nissan opens new North American design studio

Nissan Design America Inc. has opened a new design studio in Farmington Hills, Michigan, on the grounds of Nissan Technical Center North America. The $14 million investment represents an expansion of Nissan's design capabilities in Farmington Hills as well as a shift in design capabilities.

When you think of American cities associated with the car it is Los Angeles of course that leaps first to mind, thanks mostly to Hollywood, and Detroit second. But New York turns out to have been vital in the history of car design, as I found researching an exhibition Cars, Culture and the City at the Museum of the City of New York as guest curator over the last few months, working with the museums curator architecture and design, Donald Albrecht. The show has just opened, on March 25.
