This is a exhaust check valve for the exhaust side of the cylinder head at the rear. This one fits 2001 VW Passat AWM 1.8L turbo engines. This check valve is for the air pump system and prevents exhaust gas from entering the air pump system. The check valve probably fits many years and models but the housing it is bolted to is for the VW Passat 1.8L turbo. There was no engine light or running issues when this car was targeted for salvage.
