Third owner of the car, Only issue is the alternator does not charge the battery very fast, so the battery can run down on long drives (over 4-5 hours) when using headlights, AC and radio for an extended period. If you were at the debut of the 2013 Range Rover and new Jaguar F-Type in Paris last month you may well have seen Jaguar Land Rover’s new Virtual Showroom on display, and it looks like JLR have big plans for their new high-tech way of exploring new cars. JLR’s Virtual Experience allows customers to interact with an almost life-size digital wall image of their chosen car, not just looking but interacting too.

Which changes the whole dynamic of tomorrow’s race – and the championship.

Replacing the current Bluemotion model, the Mk2 Bluemotion is powered by a 110bhp 2.0-litre common rail diesel that’s been recalibrated with a lower idle rate and fitted with a switchable start/stop system to cut emissions and boost economy. When it arrives here in January, the Passat will post a combined economy figure of 57.6mpg and a CO2 rating of 128 g/km - useful savings compared to the outgoing 1.9-litre 105bhp BlueMotion model (55.4mpg and 136 g/km).
