McLaren P1 concept
Tue, 18 Sep 2012The McLaren P1 concept – the company's flagship hypercar model – will make its world debut at the Paris motor show next week ahead of the production model some time next year. These first images reveal an exterior that's more expressive in its surfacing and graphics than the existing MP4-12C, with a particular motif made of McLaren's 'tick' logo through the DRG. Its bodywork also appears to be layered over the underlying carbon structure that appears around the nose, rear and door panel, which hint at the diagonal bar that ran through the F1's doors, although here it dives downwards rather than creating a wedge.
General Motors' MyLink rivals Ford's Sync infotainment system
Fri, 18 Feb 2011General Motors is introducing a competitor to Ford's Sync infotainment system that will provide text messaging, e-mails, traffic advisories and other connected-car functions. The system, called Chevrolet MyLink, will let motorists link their smart phone and its functions--such as texting, calls, music or navigation--to the vehicle's voice recognition software, sound system and navigation screen. MyLink will be launched in the Chevrolet Volt and Equinox this fall.
CDN announces judging panel for Car Design Awards 2010

In line with the competition's aims, the judging panel comprises both Western and Chinese design chiefs, who will be awarding prizes to student entrants which include placements at an international design school. Chairing the panel for the Car Design Awards China 2010 competition will be Peter Stevens, the designer behind the McLaren F1 road car, Lotus Elan and Subaru Impreza P1 among others, and a visiting Professor of Vehicle Design at London's Royal College of Art.
