Toyota shelves A-BAT pickup concept
Mon, 20 Apr 2009Toyota won't build the small, ultramodern A-BAT hybrid pickup concept that was a head-turner at the 2008 Detroit auto show and looked like a good bet for production. "We have a lot of top priorities, and A-BAT is not one of them right now," Bob Carter, Toyota Division's general manager, told the Web site PickupTrucks.com. "It's on the shelf." A Toyota official confirmed Carter's comments.
Hummer H3 on way in right-hand drive
Tue, 10 Oct 2006By Ben Whitworth Motor Industry 10 October 2006 02:16 When Hummer crashes into the UK off-road market this time next year it will spearhead its sales attack with the mid-sized H3, available in right hand-drive with diesel power. The H3, expected to arrive with a £27,000 price tag, will be pitched directly at the Nissan Pathfinder, and will come as a high-specification one-model line-up. Expect plastic-look leather, climate control, a pounding sound system, acres of chrome and vast alloy wheels to come as standard, along with go-anywhere electronically controlled all-wheel-drive.
Now the Germans say no to Volvo
Sat, 03 Jan 2009As we’ve reported in the last few weeks, Ford has been trying its best to offload Volvo, the last of its ‘Prestige’ Euro marques. The Chinese looked to be the best bet, but it seems that that is going nowhere at the moment (the Chinese are probably waiting for Ford to get in to an even deeper mess with the hope of picking up Volvo for peanuts) and now its seems that Ford’s fire-sale has drawn more blanks. Now the Germans turn down the chance to own Volvo Der Spiegel reports that Daimler (Mercedes-Benz) boss Dieter Zetsche has revealed that Daimler has turned down the chance to buy Volvo, and has also revealed that BMW has had a good look, and reached the same decision.
