Mon, 20 May 2013Mercedes-Benz has unveiled its new S-Class W222 sedan flagship. At 5,246mm long, 1,899mm wide and 1,491mm high, sitting on a wheelbase of 3,165mm it is the latest model designed to convey ‘The Essence of Luxury', features the familiar Mercedes-Benz front with a larger, upright radiator grille. To the sides of the grille are two large, full LED headlights that mirror the outer contour of the grille, while the side view is dominated by the familiar dropping line, in the form of a sharp crease running from the trailing edge of the headlamps to a lower point above the rear wheel arches.

Set to go on sale across Europe in October, the new sporting wagon was given a production go-ahead by Mercedes boss Dieter Zetsche following positive reaction to the earlier E-class-based ConceptFascination prototype car unveiled at the 2008 Paris motor show and the subsequent CLS shooting brake show car wheeled out at the 2010 Beijing motor show. Today it’s SEAT’s turn to take the VW Group City Car and turn it in to a 5-door, with the reveal of the SEAT Mii 5-door ahead of the Geneva Motor Show in March, alongside the 5-door VW Up and the 5-door Skoda Citigo. Really, there’s not a huge amount to say about the SEAT Mii 5-door that we haven’t already said about the 3-door Mii - except it gets two extra doors.
