Chevrolet Volt visits the wind tunnel

Chevrolet reckoned its radical electric four-seater was such a breakthrough that it would transform the way we drive when it arrived in showrooms by the end of the decade. And it’s just announced that the production model will be significantly more efficient at scything through the air: the Volt has been sent to GM’s wind tunnel where Chevrolet’s aerodynamicists has smoothed off some of its blunt surfaces to create a shape that is 30 percent more effective at cutting cleanly through the air at speed than the original concept.

Sacked Morgan boss Charles Morgan is to set up new sports car company that he says will rival the 104-year-old British car manufacturer that bears his family name and recently dismissed him. In a report in the Telegraph, Charles is quoted as saying his new company will “build on the innovation and heritage of my grandfather”. Senate releases $350 billion more in bailout money

The Senate voted Thursday to release a second round of $350 billion in federal aid to rescue financial institutions. The money could be the source of additional loans to automakers, auto finance companies and perhaps suppliers. An earlier allocation of $350 billion funded the first installments of emergency loans to General Motors and Chrysler LLC.
