Germany plans to charge foreigners to drive on the Autobahn
Tue, 10 Dec 2013Germany plans to charge foreigners to drive on the Autobahn It seems Germany is planning to charge to use the Autobahn network – just as France does – but it plans to levy the charge just on foreign visitors. The plan is part of a deal by Angela Merkel’s Social Democrat party to form a new coalition and would see all non-German drivers paying a fixed toll to use the Autobahns. But the plan is coming under fire from neighbouring countries (Germany has borders with nine other countries) and even from its own version of the AA – the ADAC – who say the revenue likely to be raised – around £220 million – will do little to address the costs.
The Ultimate Golfer’s Car – The Garia
Tue, 08 Dec 2009The £14,500 Garia Golf Car I’m afraid we’d call it a Golfer’s Cart, but Garia – makers of what must surely be the most OTT golf cart in production – insist it’s a golf car. Or at least they do in all the bumph they sent us. Keen to point out that the Garia is “manufactured at the Valmet Automotive factory in Finland, manufacturer of the Porsche Cayman and Porsche Boxster” you soon start to realise that this isn’t going to be cheap.
Lamborghini supercars
Tue, 29 Jul 2008By Tim Pollard 29 July 2008 12:00 As with so many supercar companies, Lamborghini was the vision of one man: Ferruccio Lamborghini. The Sant'Agata Bolognese birthplace remains the company's home – and it has produced some of the greatest and most outrageous supercars of all time, giving this company equal rights with Ferrari to claim to be the world's best loved supercar brand.
