2005 Jeep Rescue Concept Vehicle

2005 jeep rescue - DOC25012

This awesome vehicle never made it into production.  However there a few lucky private collectors who actually own the most rugged Jeep ever produced.  At the end of the 2005 Detroit Auto Show I was walking past the Jeep Rescue Display when Daimler/Chrysler was taking down the display.  I asked what they were going to do with the box of display items.  They replied “going to the trash”.  I asked if I could have the replica rim/wheel cover and have owned it ever since.  I also grabbed a sales brochure that goes along with it.  It’s a great piece of concept automotive history and quite possibly “one of a kind” as I have never seen another one anywhere.  It measures about 20” in diameter and has a small hole at the top for mounting on a wall with your other Jeep collectibles.  It looks to made out of a wood composite and a hard plastic and weighs approximately 7 pounds.  It is featured with Daimler/Chryslers “Rescue Green” paint which actually did make it as one of Jeeps colors.  Below are a couple of links on this amazing vehicle.  If you are a collector or have a loved one who collects Jeep memorabilia this would be the perfect gift.  Please ask any questions and I will answer them the best I can.  Your purchase includes fast free same day shipping with included tracking.  Thank you for looking!

One Lap of the Web: Living-room Lambos, a zombie Cayenne and the curse of Merkur

Tue, 11 Jun 2013

We spend a lot of time on the Internet -- pretty much whenever we're not driving, writing about or working on cars. Since there's more out there than we'd ever be able to cover, here's our daily digest of car stuff on the Web you may not otherwise have heard about. -- The rich really are different than you and me ...

Why the Stingray's $52K sticker should come with an asterisk

Tue, 30 Apr 2013

General Motors resisted the urge to jack up the price on the 2014 Corvette Stingray, despite major enhancements on the seventh-generation sports car. The $51,995* sticker for the coupe, which is expected to hit showrooms by September, is just 1,400 bucks more than the current model, even with its more powerful engine, better fuel economy and vastly improved interior. Why the asterisk?

Porsche 911 Sport Classic introduced

Wed, 02 Sep 2009

Porsche has announced a Limited Edition Porsche 911 that will launch at Frankfurt - The Porsche 911 Sport Classic Porsche has plundered its history to build in to the 911 Sport Classic styling cues from the past. The Sport Classic gets a ‘Duck-Tail’ rear spoiler (thank you, 1973 Carrera RS 2.7) and ‘Fuchs-Style’ alloys (ditto – at least in terms of chronology).  You can also throw in to the mix a double-bubble roof (Carrera GT et al) and black surrounds to the headlights, which is evocative of the 1970s Porsche racers. So having thrown every design cue that fits from its history, what else does the 911 SC get?
