The deadline for the 2012 Car Design News – Opel/Vauxhall Interactive Design Competition has been extended until midnight (00:00 GMT) Friday 11 May. Mark Adams, Vice President Opel/Vauxhall Design, announced the news in a video message to all entrants, in which he reiterated the brief – to design the Opel/Vauxhall Ampera of the year 2020. All students must submit both an exterior and interior design to be eligible to win paid internships within GM Europe, Opel/Vauxhall's parent company.

More than 800 cars apply for Monterey Motorsports Reunion

The 2012 Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Shelby Cobra, and more than 800 applications for participation have been received. There will be 17 race groups at the track Aug. 17-19, but participation is limited to 550 cars.

Lancia postpones UK launch

The company had planned a glitzy British launch at the end of summer 2008, spearheaded by the all-new Audi A3 rivalling Delta (pictured) that was unveiled at March’s Geneva motor show.The comeback has now been rescheduled for summer 2009. Sources cited two major reasons for the delay.
