CAFE standard set at 54.5 mpg by 2025
Wed, 29 Aug 2012The final version of the new corporate average fuel economy (CAFE) standard was released today and, as expected, automakers will need to attain a fleet average of 54.5 mpg by 2025. The rules include electric and hybrid vehicles and—as of today—natural gas vehicles. The Environmental Protection Agency and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration proposed the rules in November, after reaching an agreement with automakers last July.
2013 Audi S3 – Paris debut

The new Audi S3 – which will bow in at next week’s 2012 Paris Motor Sow – will join the new 5-door A3 Sportback on Audi’s stand at Paris and lay down a firm marker for Audi’s share of the market. The new S3 gets a new 2.0 litre direct injection engine - part of Audi’s EA888 engine range – to go with its new underpinning using the same MQB platform as the latest A3 range, making the new S3 both lighter and more powerful.
Chevrolet saves sinkhole Corvettes

General Motors' head of global product development, Mark Reuss, said today that the damaged vehicles are some of the most significant in motoring history. He said the company wants to restore as many of them as possible so car fans can enjoy them.
