Hartmut Warkuss to receive 2014 EyesOn Design Catalyst Award

Hartmut Warkuss, former head of Volkswagen Design, will be awarded the 2014 Catalyst Award by EyesOn Design at next week's North American International Auto Show (NAIAS). Warkuss, who is credited with overseeing the design of the Bugatti Veyron, the VW Concept (new Beetle) and the Audi TT Concept, will be presented with the award by Peter Schreyer, Hyundai's president and chief design officer and the 2014 recipient of the EyesOn Design Lifetime Design Achievement Award. Toyota announced pricing of the new Prius V and Prius Plug-in on Friday. The new compact V wagon will carry an MSRP of $27,160, while the plug-in hybrid stickers at $32,760. Both include $760 in destination and handling, but only the plug-in is expected to qualify for the $2,500 government tax credit.

General Motors recalls another 8.4m cars

Associated Press General Motors has recalled a further 8.4 million cars as part of an ongoing investigation into a fault that causes the ignition key to turn unintentionally. Almost 30m cars across the US, Canada and Mexico have now been recalled by General Motors in 2014. Approximately 3,500 people are making claims for death or injury The recalls affect cars made as far back as 1997, but the American car maker insists that there is no conclusive evidence that faults with the cars caused crashes involving the vehicles.
