Toyota announces winners in design competition (w/ Video)

Toyota has announced the winners of a sponsored design competition hosted by London's Royal College of Art. Based on the theme of ‘Intelligent Urban Living', the winners include a simple but effective vertical storage system to keep bikes out of reach of thieves and a keyboard display that makes life easier for two-fingered typists. Fiat, Magna, investment firm are three finalists to buy Opel

Italian automaker Fiat, Canadian parts maker Magna International and Belgian investment firm RHJ International look to be the final three bidders for General Motors' Opel subsidiary. Fiat has confirmed that it put in a bid for Opel. Final bids for Opel were due Wednesday evening.

Roads warning as massive transformer is moved

ONE OF THE BIGGEST abnormal loads ever transported on the roads will be trundling across the west of England this weekend - at an average speed of 4mph. The giant transformer, measuring almost 330ft long and weighing around 640 tonnes, will travel the 80 miles between Didcot in Oxfordshire and Avonmouth in Bristol. Police warn the trip will affect roads in Wiltshire, Bath and north-east Somerset and south Gloucestershire between 7pm on Friday and 6pm on Sunday.
