Official: UK car production is booming

Nearly 10% MORE cars were produced in the UK this September compared to the same time last year, data released today from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has revealed What’s more, 1,125,433 cars were manufactured in the UK by the end of the month – that’s a 3.9% rise compared to 2012. September new car sales beat forecasts UK car sales hit four year high in 2012 This means UK car production has returned to pre-recession levels. The rolling 12-month total has now topped 1.5 million vehicles.

Tata’s new Indica Vista EV will be built in the UK, and these are the first official pictures of Tata's new electric car. The Vista EV (electric vehicle) will be fully launched in summer 2012. But, between now and the end of March 2011, the company will supply 25 Vista EVs for folk working in and around the West Midlands as part of a 12-month trial.

The new Peugeot 108 (pictured) revealed ahead of a Geneva debut The new Peugeot 108, revealed this morning ahead of a Geneva Motor Show debut, is Peugeot’s new take on the city car and, certainly at first look, it seems a good effort. We always liked the Peugeot 107 and its ability to look better than its Citroen and Toyota siblings, be nippy and frugal around town and small enough to park almost anywhere. And although the new Peugeot 108 looks more grown-up, it does seem to promise what the 107 delivered but in a more sophisticated package.
