M25 speed cameras not switched on

Of the 117-mile stretch of London’s orbital motorway, only 3.2 miles between Junctions 2 and 3 in Kent is covered by working cameras. But one anniversary which is, in its own way, just as significant is 35 years of the Golf GTI, an anniversary being marked with the VW Golf GTI Edition 35, which hits UK showrooms this week after its début at Worthersee in May. The original Golf GTI was a revelation; light, nimble, fun and fast it was an instant hit – the first of the proper hot-hatches.

Mon, 14 May 2012This is the new BMW M135i, a 316bhp hot hatch and the fifth model to emerge from BMW's new M Performance Automobiles tuning arm. We've already seen the 5-series (in saloon and Touring guises) and the X5 and X6 with triple-turbo diesel engines from this new sub-division of BMW's infamous M Division, but the M135i the first petrol offering. The M135i was previewed by a concept car at the 2012 Geneva motor show earlier this year, and the production version is little different.
