Concept Car of the Week: Dodge M4S PPG Turbo Interceptor (1985)

As a major paint supplier of Detroit's big three, PPG would commission every year a car to be used as a pace car in the Indy Car World Series. To avoid the costs of creating a whole new chassis, the M4S is based on a modified Huffaker tubular chassis with full roll cage taken from the Pontiac Fiero IMSA race car, only lengthened to a 100-inch wheelbase.

Chevrolet debuts police-spec Silverado 1500 Crew Cab

Chevrolet has rolled out the Silverado 1500 Crew Cab Special Service Vehicle meant for law enforcement use, and this truck has a few tricks up its sleeve. The SSV package on the Silverado 1500 Crew Cab is coupled with 1W and 1LS trim levels, with the trucks using the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 producing 355 hp and 383- lb-ft of torque, all while returning as much as 23 mpg on the highway. Things get a little more serious with the addition of a 170-amp high-output alternator and 730-CCA auxiliary battery, which allows occupants to operate the computers, cameras, radios, and emergency lights on the truck.

Traffic delays 'to last weeks'

DRIVERS at the beginning of the summer holiday getaway are being warned of weeks of delays on the roads. The first major jams will be on Friday July 25, and the five Saturdays that follow, starting July 26 and ending August 23, are expected to be the most congested days of the summer. From traffic information company Inrix, the warnings included forecasts that hour-long journeys on Friday could take up to 90 minutes.
