Higher speed limits result in fewer crashes
Tue, 25 Mar 2014Raising the speed limit can make roads safer, according to a study carried out in Denmark. The Danish Road Directorate monitored how driver behaviour and accident rates changed when speed limits on country roads and motorways were increased. That’s the vision of American component firm Gentex, which already makes the auto-dipping lights on the current BMW 7-series. Its engineers are working on a new technology called Dynamic Forward Lighting (DFL) which features a single main beam that floods the road with light.

Wed, 12 Jan 2011Mercedes-Benz has selected the twin turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine to power the recently unveiled S63 AMG, CL63 AMG and CLS63 AMG, with ratings between 525 hp and 577 hp. But it's going to be a different story for the successor to the SLK55 AMG set to be revealed at next year's Frankfurt motor show. Sources within the Stuttgart headquarters suggest the new performance roadster is earmarked to receive a yet-to-be revealed naturally aspirated version of Mercedes-Benz's new 5.5-liter V8.
