The SSC Ultimate Aero II (pics thanks to Jalopnik) The car world may have been in melt down for the last year or three, but some things are beyond recession. Ultimate hypercars is one, and it seems there are as many uber-wealthy people on the planet who are willing and able to indulge their desires for the best there can be as ever. Of course, we’re talking minuscule numbers of people to make the whole hypercar circus work.

Volkswagen Taigun concept

Volkswagen has unveiled its new Taigun concept car at the Sao Paolo motor show, previewing a future B-segment SUV. The Taigun continues VW's new SUV aesthetic, first shown on last year's Cross Coupe concept, with a similar, full-width grille and lamp and very strong horizontal feature lines. Unlike the crossover Cross Coupe however, the Taigun follows a more traditional, upright SUV format.

Honda CR-Z Mugen (2011): the first sketches

This is our first glimpse of the new, Mugen-tweaked Honda CR-Z. Developed by Mugen Euro, the UK-based arm of Honda’s long-standing tuning partner Mugen, this CR-Z features a whole raft of tweaks to turn it into a hot hybrid. As with the previous UK-spec Civic Type R Mugen, this new Mugen model is currently being touted as a one-off prototype, but just as that Civic was then built in limited numbers the same may happen with the CR-Z – and the individual parts may become available as aftermarket accessories too.
