New Mercedes-Benz V-Class (2014): world’s most luxurious MPV

Not often we get excited about a van-based people carrier, but in the case of the brand new 2014 Mercedes-Benz V-Class MPV we will make a worthy exception. Unveiled at a swanky do last night, the new V-Class replaces the Viano, and in the process becomes the most luxurious factory built eight-seater MPV we have ever seen. Ford Tourneo Custom Concept

Ford is set to unveil its eight-seater Tourneo Custom Concept at next month's Geneva motor show, previewing new features that will give the vehicle car-like appeal. Ford designers have given the commercial vehicle the character of the company's Kinetic Design passenger car range, emphasizing movement, including a trapezoidal grille, a strong and muscular shoulder line, prominent wheel lips and a DLO with distinguishing kicks at the rear of each element. "We set out to create a design with clean, futuristic lines and with a real sense of occasion," explains Paul Campbell, chief designer, Ford of Europe.

Volvo XC90 (2015)

After three highly-regarded concept cars and a rather extended gestation period, the first of the new generation of Volvo cars, the XC90 SUV, has been unveiled. Designed – at least latterly – under the auspices of Thomas Ingenlath, who joined the sole remaining Swedish brand from VW as its design director in March 2012, the new Volvo XC90 is the first to sit on the company's new, modular SPA platform (Scalable Product Architecture, if you're interested). This allows more freedom in terms of proportions, with a particularly generous axle-to-dashboard distance.
