Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro with 496bhp at Worthersee
Tue, 31 May 2011Audi A1 Clubsport quattro at Worthersee gets a huge 496bhp It’s Wörthersee Tour 2011 time – heaven on earth for VW Group nutters – and this year Audi has put together a very warm A1 with 496bhp – the Audi A1 Clubsport Quattro – to tantalise and torment Audi-philes. Tease and torment because there’s not much chance the A1 Clubsport will make it in to production any time soon, although it’s always possible something similar could see the light of day as the Audi RS1 – a tempting proposition. But first we’ll have to see the Audi S1 quattro.
No Macan Can-Can ahead of Los Angeles debut
Thu, 31 Oct 2013Our deeply absurdist, kitchy-kitsch streak wishes that Porsche would've seen fit to score this video with Jacques Offenbach's “The Infernal Gallop” in lieu of Some Generic Lux-Teuton 'Lectronic Track™. Maybe the automotive footage might've been intercut with Dutch camel racers wearing vintage Rijkspolitie outfits and libidinous dancing French girls. Zuffenhausen rarely accedes to our flights of fancy.
Volt, Leaf win top safety rating in crash test
Tue, 26 Apr 2011The 2011 Chevrolet Volt and Nissan Leaf electric cars won the highest safety ratings in crash tests performed by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, putting them in the top 57 percent of models tested so far this year. About 80 of 140 vehicles tested among 2011-2012 models have received the Institute's "top safety pick," the group's award for state-of-the-art crash protection that exceeds federal safety rules, Institute spokesman Russ Rader said. The Volt and Leaf received a "good" rating -- the highest of four rankings -- on each of four crash tests, said the Institute, which is funded by auto insurers including State Farm, All-State and Geico.
