Closed-road racing made legal in the UK
Fri, 11 Jul 2014Could the UK host its own Mille Miglia? By Adam Binnie Motoring Issues 11 July 2014 15:52 A London Grand Prix on closed streets or even a Pikes Peak style hill-climb in the Lake District could now by possible after the Government approved plans to allow motorsport events on public roads. It is hoped that the decision to allow staged rallies, hill climbs and trials of speed on closed-road street circuits will give the country’s motorsport industry a jump start. Prime minister David Cameron made the announcement today while touring the new Formula One Williams factory in Oxfordshire.
Volvo S60 Concept car (2008): first official photos
Mon, 24 Nov 2008By Simon Stiel First Official Pictures 24 November 2008 11:41 Volvo today releases the first exterior photograph of its new S60 Concept car that will appear at the Detroit motor show in January 2009 – ahead of a showroom launch in 2010. Last month, teaser photographs revealed the interior of the S60 concept car, but now we’ve got a glimpse of its exterior lurking in the shadows. Some have criticised the S60 for looking too similar to the S80 and other Volvos and this new model is designed to address that. Volvo is seeking a racier image and, we hear, is setting its sights on the Audi A4 and BMW 3-series (a task its predecessor never cracked).
DIY Car Repairs in London
Mon, 11 May 2009DIY car repairs in the dry are now a reality in London In those days I would have given anything to have access to a warm, dry garage, with hoists and tools, where I could turn up, fix what had to be fixed, and stay dry in the process. Well, the days of laying prostrate under a car in the freezing cold are long gone for me, but for many, especially in these difficult financial times, DIY car repairs are a necessity. So there should be a bit of a cheer going up in London today as what are believed to be the first DIY garage facilities in Europe open for business in Acton, North London.
