Concept Car of the Week: Mercury El Gato (1970)
Fri, 24 May 2013Of all the brands that marked American automobile history, Mercury had never been the most popular or the most loved, which ultimately led to its demise in 2011 when Ford chose to terminate the brand. To be fair only a handful of Mercury models are worth remembering: the 1950 Mercury Eight iconic base for custom cars, the 1955 Montclair, the Mustang-based Cougar, the Marauder X-100, the evil Cyclone Spoiler. However one of their coolest creations is fairly unknown mostly due its short concept car life: El Gato, in Spanish translating as "The Cat".
Porsche Cayenne 2011 – the leak starts
Thu, 25 Feb 2010The first 'Official' photo of the 2011 Porsche Cayenne We’ve been expecting Porsche to release details of the 2010/2011 Cayenne for the last week or so. But it now seems likely to happen any time now as the official images have started to leak out of Stuttgart (photo above). We’ve seen a low-key 2011 Porsche Cayenne tease already from Porsche with the picture on their website showing the 2011 Cayenne lurking in the shadows.
Mini Paceman
Fri, 14 Sep 2012Mini has presented its latest model, the Paceman, as it ventures into a new vehicle class. Appearing – almost to the millimeter, bar colour and trim detailing – to be the Paceman concept seen at NAIAS 2011 in Detroit, the Paceman Sports Activity Coupe features many traditional Mini design cues. Where it moves away from them, it is in keeping the new-style squared off front lamps of the Countryman (with which it shares a front end up to the base of the windscreen) and a roofline which tapers down much more than we've seen in any previous ‘new' Mini before.
